So, this week Lillian has been sick. She has hand-foot-and-mouth, and it has been rough. Poor thing, it started with a sudden fever that reached its highest at 103.5, then she got throat blisters that made it painful for her to eat anything. This is a recipe for fussy! Thankfully, the fever and throat pain are now gone. However, during the sickness, we watched a lot of videos, let her eat anything she was willing to accept (namely, ice cream) and lost any semblance of a schedule. Life became truly unpredictable, and nighttime wakings felt like we were back in the newborn stage, getting up about every 3 hours to console her, provide milk or water, and re-medicate. So now, we are left with a sweet little speckled Lillian (the rash part kicks in later), and me trying to figure out how in the world we are going to get back on normal nighttime and daytime schedules. In the midst of a 40-minute violent tantrum about bedtime tonight (which has pretty much never happened and seems to be a result of life being upside-down for a few days), I was truly discouraged but remembered a verse I read earlier this week:
Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. -Psalm 105:3
Earlier this week, before Lillian was sick, I was reading this verse and thinking about what I usually glory in... my circumstances, what I think others think of me, etc. But we are to glory in God's holy name! His faithfulness and all his praiseworthy acts, his rich love for us, the salvation we have in Him...the list goes on!
Then Lillian got sick. So in the midst of Lillian's loud, loud, and did I mention loud? tantrum and refusal to be comforted, and my being at a complete loss as to what to do, in that moment the Holy Spirit reminded me of this verse. Glory in God's holy name, not your circumstances. He will never change. He loves us. He will help. Rejoice in Him as you seek Him in this moment, trusting He will be faithful to help!
So, that's what going on here right now. Trying to get back to normal, but seeking to look to the Lord in joy because of all He is in the midst of this, and for help. So please do pray for us!

And as you do, enjoy some pics from our time of sickness...

Kelby got a small project done for me and taught Lillian about drills during a non-fussy time. It was cute to see his drill with her little toy drill. She liked it.

| Then she realized that Daddy's drill was cooler, and he gave her a little lesson so she can know "how to fix stuff" (he says). :) Note, she is really focused, which you can tell because she is sticking her tongue out... This is a feature that runs in the Woodard side. ;) |
